Working and finishing Soft Maple

"Soft" is a trade term, not a description of actual softness. Most soft maple species (Red, Silver Maple etc.) sit close to Black Walnut or Cherry in density. Works easily with hand and machine tools and is less prone to burning than Hard Maple.

Same blotching risk as Hard Maple under wiped stains; a wash coat or gel stain evens out absorption. Suitable for food-contact use once cured.
