S4S milling surfaces your lumber on all four sides so you start flat, square and ready to join. The non-member rate is $25 per board.

How it works

Buy your rough sawn or dimensional lumber, then add this service and set the quantity to the number of boards you want milled. Our shop team surfaces them and lets you know when the order is ready to collect at 4607 91 Ave NW in Edmonton.

Turnaround

Member orders are milled first, so non-member orders are completed after them and the wait depends on shop volume. If you need boards back on a deadline, add Rush S4S Milling instead.

Member rate

Members pay $15 per board. The member listing shows $17.64 and the Kingma Membership takes a further 15% off at checkout, which brings it to $15. Membership applies the same 15% to everything else in the store.

What does S4S mean?

Surfaced Four Sides. Both faces and both edges are machined, so the board is flat, square and a consistent thickness rather than rough from the saw.

How is this priced?

Per board, not per board foot and not per hour. Set the quantity to the number of boards you want milled.

Which lumber can be milled?

Rough sawn and dimensional lumber bought from Kingma Lumber. Slabs are a different job and are handled by the Live Edge Slab Flattening Service.

How much thickness will I lose?

That depends on how far the board is out of flat. Surfacing removes material from both faces, so allow for it when you choose a thickness. If your finished dimension is tight, ask us before you buy.

Can I pick this up in Edmonton?

Yes. Milling is done in our shop at 4607 91 Ave NW, Edmonton, and you collect the finished boards with the rest of your order.
