Working and finishing Olivewood
Dense, oily, and prone to movement and checking as it dries because of its high density and irregular grain; small, dry, stable blanks are far easier to work than large fresh-cut sections. Turns and carves very well once stable.
A natural oil finish suits it well and its own oils give it a lustrous look even with minimal finish; a long-standing choice for cutting boards, bowls and utensils once properly dried and stabilized.
